So I wanted to share some super exciting news with you. As part of my own professional development, I decided to submit some of my portraits to the Guild of Photographers National Competition. This is a fiercely popular competition among Professional Photographers as to achieve any award from the Guild is very prestigious. Although I really value feedback from my lovely clients and peers, I entered the competition as it is equally important to me that my work is critiqued by a panel of experts. Having my portraits assessed from a technical perspective and considering options such as lighting and composition really adds a new dimension to feedback.
When the results were announced, I was absolutely delighted to be notified that I had been awarded Bronze Bar for my work. The judging panel of experts commented of my work "Congratulations in achieving your Bronze Bar, which is only awarded to images of a strong standard in this national competition". Whilst this not the first time my work has received recognition having previously won a national competition with a landscape shot it's very satisfying to receive this award for portrait photography. I am thrilled to receive this award, not only for the acknowledgement within the industry but also confirmation that the quality of my work continues to be of a very high standard.
