Add a little style to your portrait sessions

October 24, 2017

It was an absolute privilege to photograph the latest arrival to the Wilson Family.  Baby Sienna Rose arrived 3 days early, at home with dad and big sister close by and under the watchful eye of the One to One Midwives.

Katie and Ross knew straight away exactly how they wanted their newborn portrait session to go.  Having spent money previously on portraits and not been entirely happy with the end product, I wanted to make sure they played a big part in how the portrait session went.

Katie and Ross wanted clean and crisp, white and bright photographs taken in their home.  This style of photograph is commonly known as Lifestyle Photography.  This style is very simple and unposed and captures everyone in a very natural setting. As the portrait session takes place at home, these sessions are very relaxed and informal.

The session took place when Sienna was 10 days old and it was a whole family affair capturing Sienna on her own, then with her big sister Harper Lily and then with mum and dad.  Both girls wore beautiful black and white striped Baby Mori bodysuits which was really soft to touch as well as looking  great in the photographs.

I wanted to capture some portraits of when Sienna was asleep but with all the excitement of a visit from a photographer, it kept her wide awake so a couple of days later, I returned to the home and managed to photograph her and her big sister fast asleep.

Katie and Ross were delighted with the portraits and  I know their portraits will be cherished for many years to come.  The tricky thing now is deciding what portraits to hand where.
