International Women's Day
Did you know that the first International Women's Day was held in 1911 and its observed every year on the 8th March. It celebrates the social, political and economic achievements of women. International Women's Day is celebrated in over 100 countries and is currently a National Holiday in 35 countries (sadly not the UK).
Today is a day to celebrate all the amazing women out there who keep strong, who have set backs but get back up. To all the women who are fantastic role models to the young girls, who inspire and encourage them. To all the women who are keeping things together. Where would we be without the fabulous mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunties, daughters. I salute you all.
I have been very fortunate throughout my life to grow up with, work with and socialise with some of the most amazing girls and women. We all have our hopes and dreams and for some women, they are out there, day after day, making things happen. Living their dream. I should know, I am one of them.
A few years ago I took a huge leap of faith and left the comfort of a good job that paid well but it wasn't fulfilled. I knew I had to invest in me and now, nearly two years on, I am running my own business, love the work that I do and living my dream.
I feel truly honoured to spend time with young girls and capture their spirit and dreams. To capture their inner and outer beauty before society tells them what being beautiful looks like.
